Allow Henna to dry for 20-30 minutes
Optional but effective: Seal with lemon and sugar (mixed in equal parts)
Leave the dried paste on your skin for at least 3 hours. The longer the paste is left on the skin, the darker the color ultimately is.
Avoid water for 24 hours
If water cannot be avoided, apply a natural oil on the skin prior to water exposure so it can act as a barrier
After removal: Yellow
Morning after (24 hr stain): Brown dark
48 hour mature stain: Dark Brown with a Red Undertone
While the henna is on your skin, avoid chlorine, exfoliation, soap, and hand sanitizer.
Henna remains on the skin until the skin naturally exfoliates off - do what you can to prolong this process!
Optional, ADDITIONAL steps: Highly recommended for a Bride
Once dried, definitely seal with lemon and sugar mix
Add Vicks Vapor rub on the Henna with a cotton ball, once the sealant has dried
Steam or heat the henna
Boil water in a shallow pan and hold hand over the steam - rewetting henna helps restart the staining process underneath
Place cloves on the stove and hold hand over the steam - let it absorb
Wrap and seal the henna with toilet paper, then saran wrap
Prevents henna from moving and allows it to stick to the skin
DO NOT apply saran wrap directly, your sweat will pool and ruin the design
Leaving the henna on for 4 hours is bare minimum - overnight is ideal
Your body is warmest at rest allowing the stain to seep into your skin
Allow Jagua to dry for around 45 minutes
Leave the dried gel on your skin for 3-4 hours
Unlike Henna, it is unnecessary to leave the paste on for longer than that
While the paste is on the skin, avoid water! Any moisture to the skin can cause the gel to smudge and ruin the clean sharp lines of your design
Wash the gel away by lathering warm, soapy water TWICE
You want to ensure all the clear gel has been removed otherwise there could be transfer resulting in a messy looking design
After removal: Pale and Yellow - barely noticeable
Morning after (24 hr stain): Dark Blue
48 hour mature stain: Opaque Black with a blue undertone
There really is no aftercare : )
Apply, let it dry within minutes - and just don’t scrub it off until it wants to come off naturally!
