In short: yes, it could happen. It’s always best to do a patch test and be aware of your bodies allergens. Here’s an explanation:
Henna and Jagua are both natural, non toxic, chemical-free ingredients. The pastes we use have no chemicals added to them so the chances of getting burned from PPD is null (PPD is the scary ingredient in black henna that burns the skin; that’s mostly what you read about on the news pertaining to henna tattoo no-no’s) However, both Henna and Jagua are made from natural ingredients grown on our earth. Just as humans can have allergic reactions to nuts, similarly, your body can be allergic to the Lawsonia plant or the Genipa fruit.
Before you panic, please also realize that allergens are possible with many daily products that we use! That’s why most products will have a disclaimer on the bottle. Similarly, it’s our job to let you know that each human being is different and our skin and bodies react to natural earth-grown ingredients differently.
If you were simply wondering whether our products have chemicals? They do not.
